Be Human Be Holy

"Set apart"  At baptism Christians are set apart with a mission : to know God more and more, to Love God, worship Him and to be with Him in eternity. This is our mission as Christians and it is not unachievable with faith and a life of holiness.

Here one may ask if holiness is achievable since we are mere mortals. of course God does not expect us to be Him but to be like Him. He is Holiness in person and we as created in His image are only but frail and  human.

Our humanity has become a stumbling block to our struggle for Holiness but at the same time our humanity is the only way to Holiness.
Ordinary human living is what is needed to achieve this life of Holiness.  When God urged us to be Holy He is only saying let us live our lives like we ought to as humans.

To be Holy is to be set apart and here as Christians in the Gospel Christ is urging us to leave our lives going extra miles in doing good deeds. That means ‘doing ordinary things the extraordinary way’. We should not live as it is done in the world but as God wants us to.
